The Alphabet Club "T" + "U"

Hello friends,

I'm so hopelessly behindwith my Alphabet that I thought I could do the letters in the order that suits me best. And combine some of them. And as the following two were ready to be posted the R and the S just have to wait a little bit longer.

*************************************************

T = Träubleskuchen

You might remember this cake from my "J" Alphabet Club post. The berries on the cake are currants, usually redcurrant. And the German word for currants is "Johannisbeeren", hence a cake for the letter J. But in the region where I live everyone calls these berries "Träubele", which means little raisins. And because I couldn't find another German cake starting with T I thought I could have this one twice, lol.

T = Tea Time

I used to be a coffee drinker and started and ended my days with a cup of coffee. And there were numerous cups of coffee in between them. But then one day, coffee wasn't an option any longer and I switched over to tea. Not my kind of thing in the beginning. But after several years of drinking tea and trying out many different sorts of tea I really love it. And I have a little collection of designs celebrating tea and tea time. But I have only stitched one so far as a gift for a friend.

The design is called Time For Tea With Max and was designed by Lucy Lyons Willis, the mother of The Sampler Girl. Her company had the name La Chatelaine Designs but as far as I know she stopped designing quite a while ago.

T = Village Alphabet

T = Treasure

Yes, I have a little treasure among my patterns, a treasure for me. Many years ago I started collecting some special patterns made after the artwork of Lu Fuller. I just loved them. Back then it was difficult for me to get hold of them and I could only find them in the US. But somehow I managed to get them and the following charts and kits are my little cross stitch treasures.

T = Designers or their companies starting with the letter T that are in my stash.

middle: Kandace Thomas - Saltbox House Sampler
right: Deborah Thorpe - Fairest Flower

middle: Tree of Life Samplings - Emma Rose Friendship

U = ?

No German cake here - I couldn't find a single one starting with U.  Jo suggested to just invent one but my baking creativity is definitely at zero, lol.

U = UFO

Some time ago I came across one of my oldest UFOs and it really is a UFO as I haven't stitched on it for more than 15 years. I started it back when stitching teddies was up to date - at least here in Germany. Nearly all the stitching is done but the backstitching is still missing. At the moment I don't know what to do with it - finish it or throw it away. I have to think about it.

U = Designers or their companies starting with the letter U that are in my stash.

I know there are designers but I don't own any of their designs.

That's all for today. The Alphabet Club is the baby of Chiara of The Grey Tail and Jo of Serendipitous Stitching. If you want to read more about it, just go to the button in my side bar. There you can also see the other participants' entries. They are from various countries and their Alphabet Club posts are all so different and interesting as they focus on different themes. It's a totally guilt free and stress free club.

Happy Stitching!
